INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Franklin College senior wide receiver Brad Bonomini and freshman kicker Carter Brown collected Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) player of the week awards on Monday afternoon.
Bonomini was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week while Brown collected Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the first weekly conference award for both players after each contributed greatly to a 45-24 win over Manchester on Saturday afternoon.
Bonomini was the Grizzlies' top receiving target on Saturday, catching seven passes for 164 yards and three first half touchdowns. It was the second three-touchdown afternoon of the year for the Lawrenceburg, Ind.-native and the sixth time he went over 100 yards receiving in a game. Bonomini has 57 catches for 1,055 yards and 11 touchdowns this year, all career highs.
Brown went a perfect six-for-six in extra points and drilled a 25-yard field goal to match a season-high with nine points against the Spartans. The New Castle, Ind.-native matched a season best for most extra points without a miss while burying six PATs for the fifth time this year. Brown is 44-for-49 in extra points and perfect in two field goal tries on the year.
This marks the fifth straight week at least one member of the Grizzlies has been named an HCAC player of the week. Bonomini joins Ben Fleet and Jacob Earl as Offensive Player of the Week selections while Brown joins last week's special teams award winner, Jake Campbell. Austin Fleming has also been named Defensive Player of the Week during the current stretch.
Franklin returns to action on Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon, taking on Bluffton University at Faught Stadium in Franklin. Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
