GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the first time this year and third time in his career, Franklin senior placekicker/punter Stephen Colligan has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Fort Wayne, Ind.-native went a perfect 8-for-8 on extra point attempts in last weekend's 63-17 win over Anderson University, helping the Grizzlies clinch their ninth HCAC championship in the last 11 years.
Colligan also recorded 97 yards (48.5 avg.) on two punts, one of which landed inside the 20. The Grizzlies' top specialist also finished with 526 yards on nine kickoffs with one touchback.
For the year, Colligan is 3-for-6 on field goal attempts and 54-for-56 on extra points, and currently ranks second on the team with 63 points.
Colligan and the rest of the Franklin football team wrap up the regular season this coming Saturday, traveling to Hanover College for the 87th installment of the Victory Bell Classic. Kickoff from Alumni Stadium is set for 1:30 p.m.
