Football Preparing for Victory Bell Classic Battle at Hanover

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College football team looks to close out the 2015 regular season with an undefeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) record when it travels to Hanover College in the annual Victory Bell Classic on Saturday, November 14, at 1:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies have already clinched their sixth consecutive HCAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. The team has won seven straight games – all conference victories -- and is 7-2 on the season following a 35-7 Senior Day victory over Defiance College last Saturday.

Franklin has captured the past 10 Victory Bell Classic games, including last year's 49-33 triumph at Faught Stadium.

The team's offensive attack ranks fourth nationally in passing offense (361.2 yards per game) and fifth in total offense (541.2 yards per game).

Sophomore quarterback Chase Burton (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) is the reigning HCAC Offensive Player of the Week. He ranks in the top five nationally in six statistical categories: Passing yards, third at 3,117 yards; passing yards per game, third at 346.3 yards per game; points responsible for, third at 234 points; points responsible per game, third at 26.2 points; total offense, fourth at 360.6 yards per game; and, passing touchdowns, fifth at 31.

Seventeen different receivers have caught a pass this season, including three players with 43 or more receptions. Sophomore wingback Lee Wroblewski (Salem, Ind./Paoli) leads the pass catchers with 44 receptions for 731 yards and 11 touchdowns. Senior split end Mason Deal (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) has added 43 catches for 667 yards and six touchdowns. Senior wingback Kendal Butler (Toledo, Ill./Cumberland) also has caught 43 passes for 556 yards and four scores.

Junior Ty'Ronte Files (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard) leads the rushing attack with 662 yards and five touchdowns. He ranks 15th nationally by averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Classmate Kole Stogner (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) has gained 379 yards on the ground and scored three rushing touchdowns. Stogner also has added 18 receptions and three scores.

Defensively, senior linebacker Jeremiah Windell (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) leads the team with 66 tackles. Senior linebacker Lucas Windell (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) has added 45 tackles. Senior lineman Nate Bryan (Greencastle, Ind./North Putnam) was named to the Team of the Week for his performance against Defiance. Bryan is tops on the team with 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
