Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College football team posted its second consecutive home shutout in a 42-0 victory against Manchester University on Saturday from Faught Stadium. The Grizzlies improved to 3-2 on the season and 3-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play.

The team opened HCAC action with a 56-0 victory over Anderson University on September 19.

Sophomore quarterback Chase Burton (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) threw for a career-high 413 yards and accounted for five touchdowns. He passed for three scores, while rushing for two touchdowns in the victory.

Franklin got on the scoreboard midway through the first quarter on a 46-yard touchdown pass to senior split end Mason Deal (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian).

The hosts took a 14-0 advantage with 14:09 remaining in the first half on a seven-yard touchdown run from junior running back Kole Stogner (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood). Stogner had a game-high 60 yards rushing and averaged 8.6 yards per carry.

Two scores through the air from Burton to sophomore split end Tanner Wroblewski (Salem, Ind./Paoli) increased the lead to 28 points at halftime. The first strike covered 53 yards before a six-yard score with 14 seconds left in the second quarter.

In the second half, Burton gave Franklin a 35-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown run at the 12:26 mark of the third quarter. He later capped a 15-play, 79-yard drive with a four-yard scamper early in the fourth quarter.

The defense preserved the shutout with a goal-line stand in the closing minutes.

The Grizzlies have now won 23 straight home conference games.

Franklin gained 604 yards of offense and rushed for nearly 200 yards in the victory.

Deal led the receivers with six catches for 141 yards and one score. Senior wingback Kendal Butler (Toledo, Ill./Cumberland), senior tight end Dylan Jenney (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central), and Stogner each caught four passes.
