Football Preparing for First HCAC Road Test at Bluffton

Franklin, Ind. - The Franklin College football team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action with a road contest against Bluffton University on Saturday, September 26, at 1:30 p.m. in Bluffton, Ohio.

The Grizzlies, with a 1-2 record, opened conference play with a 56-0 victory over Anderson University on September 19. Franklin gained over 650 yards in total offense in the contest, including 324 rushing yards. The team posted its first shutout since the 2012 season.

Sophomore quarterback Chase Burton (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) has thrown for 809 yards and five touchdowns so far this fall. Four of those scores came through the air against Anderson.

Junior running back Ty'Ronte Files (Ocala, Fla./Vanguard) had a career-high 94 rushing yards last Saturday. He has tallied 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns this season.

Senior wingback Kendal Butler (Toledo, Ill./Cumberland) leads the team with 196 receiving yards, and had his first 100-yard receiving game against Anderson.

Sophomore wingback Lee Wroblewski (Salem, Ind./Paoli) leads the team with 18 receptions this season.

Defensively, senior linebacker Jeremiah Windell (Corydon, Ind./Corydon Central) is tops on the team with 29 tackles this season. Junior linebacker Austin Day (Indianapolis, Ind./Decatur Central) is tied for second on the team with 14 tackles. He leads the defense with five tackles for loss. Day was named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, after blocking a field goal in the shutout victory.

Sophomore Ryan Conner (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) has also posted 14 tackles on the season. He has recorded one of the team's two interceptions.

Bluffton is 1-1 on the season, and Saturday's game will open its HCAC season after having an off week. The team's lone victory, an impressive 34-26 win against Baldwin-Wallace University on September 12, came in the last home game, and its 24-17 win over Franklin in 2013 was the Grizzlies' last conference setback. The Beavers won six of their last seven games in 2014 to have a 6-2 HCAC record and third place finish.
