GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sam Claycamp, Ryan Bixler and Drew Naumovich were recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Tuesday (May 28) evening, being selected to one of three All-Mideast Region teams.
Claycamp earned his first career all-region honor from the association, picking up second team honors as the shortstop. The Columbus, Ind.-native led the 31-15 Grizzlies with a .400 average, belting four home runs and knocking in 48 on the year while leading the team with 68 hits and 17 doubles. He adds another award to book-end a stellar career in the blue and gold, with this honor joining a Second Team All-Region selection from D3Baseball, a First Team All-HCAC selection, HCAC Tournament MVP honors and a spot on the all-tournament team at the Seguin Regional.
Bixler becomes a two-time all-region selection after being named to one of the outfield spots on the third team. A 2018 ABCA Third Team All-American, the Logansport, Ind.-native had a successful junior season that saw him lead the team with 10 home runs and 55 runs batted in while hitting .307 with 13 doubles and 52 runs scored. In just two years, Bixler has moved into a tie for third place for most home runs in a career with 25, just four behind former teammate Frank Podkul's program record.
Greenwood, Ind.-native Naumovich earned his first all-region award after a strong senior season that saw him bat .356 with five home runs, 36 driven in while starting all 46 games at first base. Naumovich added 12 doubles, stole 12 bags and led the Grizzlies in both walks (47) and on-base percentage (.516). Like both of his fellow all-region selections, he was a First Team All-HCAC selection in each of the last two years and earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the Seguin Regional.
