FRANKLIN, Ind. – Franklin College sophomore outfielder Ryan Bixler continued to add to his personal trophy case, earning Third Team All-American honors from both D3Baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA).
The Logansport, Ind.-native becomes the first Grizzly to earn All-American accolades since Ian Sanders was named a Third Team All-American by D3Baseball. He becomes the first two-time All-American selection in program history.
Bixler started all 44 games for the Grizzlies in 2018, helping the team to a 39-5 record, the 2018 HCAC regular season and tournament championships, and the program's first NCAA regional appearance since 2011. Bixler closed out his debut season in the blue and gold with a .369 batting average and set a new single-season program record with 63 runs scored.
His 15 home runs ranked second on the Grizzlies and second in all of Division III behind teammate Frank Podkul. Bixler drove in 56 runs, smacked 10 doubles, two triples and stole 11 bags for the Grizzlies. In the field, Bixler recorded 91 put outs and finished with a .989 fielding percentage, second best on the team.
The two All-American honors add to Bixler's already expanding list of accolades. Earlier this year, Bixler was named HCAC Player of the Year, HCAC Tournament MVP, D3Baseball.com First Team All-Mideast Region and ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Mideast Region.
