GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two familiar faces were recognized by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) for their prowess on the field this past week, with Chase Burton and Maddie Fleet collecting their sport's respective Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Burton's record-setting performance against Mount St. Joseph led to his fourth HCAC Offensive Player of the Week award. The senior quarterback went 31-for-37 for 455 yards and six touchdown passes, bypassing Jonny West's previous program record of 105 TD passes in the process.
With his performance on Saturday, Burton also moved within 74 yards of passing West as the program's all-time leader in passing yards. The Corydon, Ind.-native has now collected 11 Offensive Player of the Week awards for his illustrious career.
Fleet continued her recent dominance on the pitch last week, scoring four goals as Franklin captured the 2017 HCAC regular season championship with wins over Rose-Hulman and Anderson.
The Indianapolis, Ind.-native potted both goals in the Grizzlies' 2-1 win over the Engineers, and added two more in the regular season finale as Franklin blanked Anderson on Saturday, 3-0. Fleet has scored multiple goals in each of the Grizzlies' last four matches, and has totaled 17 goals during her current seven-game goal scoring streak.
It marks the second straight HCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Fleet, and the eighth of her career to date.
